Have you ever been in the middle of a game and slipped up? Maybe you fumbled the ball, missed a catch, or lost the rhythm with the baton. Even if you’re not an athlete, sometimes we mess up in life. What raced through your mind in that moment? Did you replay the mistake over and over? If so, I’m here to encourage you to let it go and focus on the NEXT PLAY.
Some people might keep a running list of your slip-ups, and maybe you do too. But I want you to know that God does not. In the Bible, even when the children of Israel disobeyed and strayed from His commands, God did not abandon them forever. Though they faced consequences and became outcasts, He still reached out to restore them. They made big mistakes, but God, full of grace and forgiveness, offered them a fresh start and the promise of restoration. In Jeremiah 32:37-41, God promises to bring them home, let them live in peace and safety, and finds joy in doing good for them, planting them firmly in their land once again.
So what does this mean for you? It means that even if you stumble, repent, then step boldly into what God has for you. Whether it is a new assignment, task, or simply your next move, do not let your mistakes hold you hostage. That is exactly where the enemy wants you to stay: bound. When we ask God for forgiveness, he wipes the slate clean. If God has let it go and is not dwelling on it, why should you? Release it and step confidently into YOUR NEXT PLAY!
